Since the house is setting up so high out of the ground (due to a high water table) we need to haul in fill dirt so we have a slope away from the house and to cover the exposed block. Well, dirt isn't cheap...in fact hauling the dirt is even more expensive. Gas prices don't help!
Well, the permanent electric hasn't been installed because there is no dirt where the trench for the electric lines will be. So, the electric company won't install the permanent electric to the house until the dirt is hauled in and the builder can't schedule more work on the house until the permanent electric is in.
To make a long story short, we were quoted $8,000 to have dirt hauled in for the house. That's $8,000 more than we intended to pay! Fortunately we have an acquaintance (co-worker of Cheryl's) who is building a house about 1 mile from us. He's building on a hill and obviously has no need for any excess dirt. So, I asked Cheryl to ask him how much he'd sell his dirt for. I was also hoping he was digging out a basement, otherwise he wouldn't have enough dirt to supply us. Well, not only is he digging out a basement, but he said we could have his excess dirt for free because he was going to have to pay to have it hauled away!! Woo hoo!! Free dirt!!
So, instead of paying an outrageous amount of money for dirt and having it hauled, we get the dirt free and only have to pay to have it hauled 1 mile! The dirt is scheduled to be hauled in this weekend.
Needless to say, I don't mind a delay if it saves me thousands of dollars!

Well that's great news! I guess you could say you're getting it dirt cheap. HA! HA1
Cute little "Delay" video! That story is what I call the FAVOR of of God!! This family has been blessed up one side and down the other! And then blessed underneath and over top! :-)
