Back Home

We returned home from our vacation to the OBX last Saturday.  We kept up on all the happenings back home via internet. We were a little concerned about the condition of our houses (both the new and the old) with the "hurricane" that hit.  The new house just had some ventilation tiles & shingles ripped off leaving our attic exposed to the elements. Luckily there have been no "elements" to speak of so we're ok there. We were fortunate to only have minor damage to both. 

The old house had quite a bit of siding ripped off in the wind but most of the pieces are intact so I can just put them back on. I'll need to replace a few of them but that's no big deal.  So, considering all that went on I'd say we made it out in great shape. Prior to leaving for the OBX  I was concerned about hurricanes ruining our vacation and when we leave we end up with one back in Ohio!   Crazy!!   I'll try to get some pics posted of the damage later this week.   

Anyway, vacation was good. It could have been much better if the weather had cooperated. The first 3 days were great....sunny & hot. After that we had rain, clouds, much cooler temps and lots of wind. It was okay though, we just spent more time in the hot tub and inside playing games, etc. 

Another downside to vacation was my first broken bone. I broke my big toe Wednesday when I ran across the deck, hit some water and slid into the steps that lead up to the hot tub. I waited until we got back home to get my foot x-rayed so I wasn't sure it was broken until Saturday, but I was fairly sure I broke something. Anyway, I've got a limp and some black & blue toes to show for it.
