The temporary deck was completed over the weekend. Steve & Jason helped me build it Saturday while Howie raked some stone out of the yard for me. I decided to just put a temporary deck on in order to gain occupancy from the county since they require so much for anything much bigger. Otherwise I would have to buy a permit for $85, submit 2 sets of plans to the county for approval, dig post holes and have those inspected, build the framing and have that inspected, then finish the deck and have another final inspection!! I've heard they are very difficult to deal with and based on their regulations for decks it seems that way. I'm hoping to build a much bigger deck before November.
Regardless, the deck is done for now so hopefully it will pass inspection. The final coat of paint is scheduled to go on tomorrow as is the final connections and back fill of the septic system. After that, all the major work is done. We're hoping the builder will get all the final inspections ordered and completed this week and have the cleaning crew clean the house by Friday so we can move in on Saturday. As long as we pass inspections and we get the house cleaned we should be able to move in.
The kitchen appliances were delivered last Friday. There's still work to do regarding that. I have to install the dishwasher, microwave hood and run a water line to the refrigerator for the ice maker and water dispenser. I also have to install the garage door opener & finish painting the basement walls with Dry Lok. There's lots more in addition so if anyone wants something to do just call me and I can put you to work!! :D
