Cheryl's Lasik

Cheryl's Lasik eye surgery was Thursday morning. The actual procedure only took about 10 minutes. The process of getting her prepared took about an hour.

So we get there and they put drops in her eyes to moisten them and then more drops to dialate her pupils. Then they checked her vision as well as the measurement on her eyes. Next, they used a special pen to make a small dot on either side of her eyeballs just outside of the iris. Yes, she actually had writing on her eyeballs!

Next they took us back to a room next to the surgical room. This room had a large window that would allow me to watch everything they did during the procedure. They also had a tv mounted on the wall that was focused on her eyeballs so I could get a close-up view of what they were doing without actually being in the room. After a few minutes they took her back and she laid down on a table. I sat in the viewing room on a comfy leather couch with some snacks nearby. I must say, they are quite accommodating at Dr. Stahl's.

They started by taping here right eye open and putting the metal clamps on to keep them open. Before long you could here the zapping of the laser as they cut & lifted the flap of her eyeball. Then they corrected her vision. Next they did the same to the left eye and before I knew it she was finished. She said the procedure itself was not painful but very uncomfortable.

She relaxed the rest of the day and by Friday morning she was feeling really good. She could see just fine.  She had a follow-up exam Friday morning and they tested her vision and it was
20-15!!  She now sees better than me!

She's thrilled to be done with glasses and contacts forever!
