Today Delaney started pre-school! She's been excited for weeks and this morning was no different. She walked into her classroom and wasn't even gonna say goodbye to us! Chaley Gets Her Ears Pierced

Chaley finally conquered potty training and her reward was getting her ears pierced. So, over the weekend we took her out to get her reward. She was so thrilled to be getting her ears pierced. She picked out diamond star earrings and did a very good job getting her ears pierced. See the video below.

Grazin' in the Grass

In late May we finished planting grass seed in the front yard. I said I'd post an update so, here it is. The grass is coming in good.....as are the weeds! Bustin' 'Coons

We've had regular nighttime visits from a raccoon over the last few weeks. There were no major problems until Cheryl and the girls bought flowers and planted them in pots on the deck. Two nights later Cheryl awoke around midnight to the coon rummaging through her pots, tearing her flowers out. (apparently they like to eat the fertilizer??) Then, a few days later I found the bird feeder busted

We recently completed tilling, grading and seeding of our front yard (about an acre). It took a few days to complete. We put down 250 lbs. of grass seed and we removed an incredible amount of rocks too. Now we're hoping for some rain. I'll post a follow-up pic once things green up. There's lots more to do if anyone is bored and feels like doing some work in the great outdoors!

8th Anniversary Getaway

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go with Jace's kindergarten class on a field trip. We went to the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton.I had a group of 6 kids that I was responsible for, including Jace and Tyler (my nephew). Toe Issues

Progress around the house has been steady. Cheryl's done a lot of painting, including Jace's dinosaur room, Delaney's Dora room and the coffee themed dining room. Deck Progress

Work on the deck continues. Saturday Steve and I spent about 5 hours putting the beams on. Yesterday I spent a few hours putting the joists up and attaching them to the ledger board against the house. Permanent Deck Work Begins

I decided to just put a temporary deck on in order to gain occupancy from the county since they require so much for anything much bigger. Flooring was completed yesterday. Vinyl went in Tuesday and the carpet went in yesterday. The last major project is the final coat of paint. Cheryl's Lasik

Cheryl's Lasik eye surgery was Thursday morning. The actual procedure only took about 10 minutes. The process of getting her prepared took about an hour.So we get there and they put drops in her eyes to moisten them and then more drops to dialate her pupils. We finally got our fill dirt delivered last Saturday. I rented a Bobcat and used that to move dirt all day while 2, tandem axle dump trucks (those are the big dump trucks) dumped dirt and a dozer back-filled around the house. Painting and trim installation started this week. The trim came in on a big truck and the painters put the 1st coat of paint on the walls. Last Saturday was the brush clearing at the new house. Nearly 2 acres of brush and trees was cleared. The rough HVAC installation began Monday and should wrap up today. The fireplace and rough plumbing is scheduled to start today finishing up by tomorrow. Friday the rough electric will begin. The siding, shutters and bath tubs were delivered yesterday. The construction of the basement walls is finally complete. They've started dry locking the basement with tar and insulation on the outside of the basement walls. This should keep moisture out of the basement. Stop back soon for more updates!

SNOW STORM

The most recent snowstorm buried us in for a day. The storm dropped 15-20 inces on us and we were on a Level 3 snow emergency. We haven't had that much snow in years. I was able to get the driveway shoveled out before I took the kids out to play. We had snow drifts as high as 4 feet. Today I've got to go plow out the driveway at the new house so the construction crews will be able to get in to

Rain, Snow, Ice

The weather has been brutal the last month or so. We've had rain, ice and snow storms every week...sometimes twice a week! The latest storm moved in on Tuesday and dumped ice everywhere and then followed with about an inch of snow. Above is a picture I took on the way to work this week. Tomorrow we're supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow! So much for global warming. I can't wait for Spring!

Foundation/Basement

The block/foundation aspect of the house has been underway for about a week. It's been slowed by the rain/snow/ice combinations we've been getting hit with for the last 2 weeks. A new wave of rain and snow is set to come in tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully the block will all be laid by this weekend so the framing stage can begin.
